Introduction
The faculty believe that graduate
education degrees in nursing should be based on
undergraduate general education and professional
knowledge, attitudes and applied skills which
evolve from the concept that the individual is
a holistic being. As nursing curricula progress
from undergraduate to graduate education, the
focus of the scope of practice affords students
the opportunity to study, in-depth, knowledge
in selected areas of nursing as clinical nurse
specialists, administrators, educators, consultants,
nurse anesthetists and nurse practitioners; to
refine clinical competencies; to develop an advanced
clinical practice; and to utilize and conduct
research. Graduate programs in nursing have the
mission of educating qualified persons to make
contributions to the improvement of nursing, health
care and education to promote the advancement
of the discipline of nursing.
