Computer Requirements

The computer should be capable of running Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office XP Professional. The School of Nursing stores files in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Outlook Web Access is used for E-Mail. Students can download important files and obtain E-Mail through the latest version of Internet Explorer.

Nursing students who elect to connect their computers to any port in the LSUHSC network are responsible for maintaining the following requirements:

  1. The computer configuration must be compatible with the LSUHSC network.
  2. The computer must be free of all viruses. If a computer has a virus, the student is responsible for removing the virus.
  3. The computer must be running reliable anti-virus software that is updated regularly.
  4. The computer must be kept up to date with all of the security patches from Microsoft. The student is responsible for making sure that the security patches are installed.
  5. Within the School of Nursing the computer will be attached to the network by means of a patch cord. The School of Nursing does not support wireless networking at this time.

 

Malpractice Insurance

  1. Students are encouraged to purchase their own personal policies.
  2. LSU malpractice coverage documentation may be obtained from the Dean’s office.

Student health verification form must be complete prior to starting program.
