LSUHSC School of Nursing uses a self-managed application process. In order to meet the designated deadline, applicants must obtain all official transcripts from all accredited colleges/universities attended and submit them (sealed and signed) with the application form, the $50 application fee, and the written statement.
Applications must be received in the office of Student Affairs no later than February 1 for fall admission and September 1 for spring admission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application Instructions
Only qualified applicants with completed application packets will be invited to interview. The interview process will be a panel interview, with each panel member individually scoring the applicant on each question. The scores will be averaged and assigned a point value.
The completed application must contain the 5 items listed below or your application will not be considered:
- Completed and signed BSN application
form
- Required application fee ($50.00)
- Official. sealed transcripts from each and every college or university attended must be included with the application. We are not responsible for guaranteeing the receipt of transcripts sent directly to LSUHSC School of Nursing from another college or university.
- Goal statement paper
- Official results of the Hesi Admission Assessment Exam A², sent directly to the School of Nursing. (More Info)

- Written Statement. The statement should be written in the first person using a conversational tone and should be no more than two typed pages, doubled spaced, with a title page. Please provide personal answers to the following:

Students who are ordering official transcripts through a clearinghouse must have all the above items sent to us as a completed application packet or your application will not be considered for admission.

Notification
Notification of acceptance or denial
of admission will be mailed to all applicants
approximately four weeks after the Admission
Examination.
An applicant who is
notified of acceptance must return the
acceptance form and $50 fee before the
deadline indicated in their letter in
order to reserve their spot in the class.
If the admitted applicant has a need
to delay enrollment until the following
semester, the acceptance form and fee
must be returned before the deadline
with a written request for delayed enrollment
and the rationale for the request, to
reserve a spot in that class.
If an accepted applicant
decides to withdraw their application,
notification with a written rationale
for the withdrawal must be received
by the Student Affairs Office within
two weeks of receipt of the acceptance
letter. Failure to notify the Office
of Student Affairs could jeopardize
future attempts to apply for admission.
An applicant who is
eligible but is notified of denied admission
may send a written request (within two
weeks of receipt of the denial
letter) to have their application transferred
for consideration with the next applicant
group ONE TIME ONLY. The Student Affairs
Office must be notified by email (nsstuaffairs@lsuhsc.edu)
or letter (see mailing address above).
Thereafter, the denied or accepted
applicant must complete a new application
packet and submit another application
fee.
