Application Information

LSUHSC School of Nursing uses a self-managed application process. Components to the application procedure for admission to the CARE BSN Program of study are as follows:

  1. Completed BSN Admission Form.
  2. Sealed official transcripts from all previous college/university level course work including degree conferment.
  3. Letter of Reference Forms (Total of Two: one from an academic setting and one from a professional/employer source)
  4. Typed one page double spaced statement paper addressing the following:
  5. Required application fee ($50.00)

An application packet must contain all of the above components to be considered complete. Packets must be hand carried or mailed to:

Office of Student Affairs
LSUHSC School of Nursing
1900 Gravier Street, 4th Floor
New Orleans, LA 70112
504-568-4197

  1. Deadlines for postmark of a completed application packet are February 1 of each year for fall admission.
  2. The members of the Admissions, Progression and Graduation Committee will review only completed application packets received or post marked by the deadline date.
  3. Only qualified applicants with completed application packets will be invited to interview. The interview process will be a panel interview, with each panel member individually scoring the applicant on each question. The scores will be averaged and assigned a point value.
  4. Notification of action taken by members of the Admissions Progression and Graduation Committee will be sent in writing to all applicants no later than May 30th for the Fall Semester admission.
  5. An applicant who wishes to transfer an application to a subsequent semester may do so one time only, and must notify a staff member in the Office of Student Records in writing prior to that semester's application deadline. Thereafter, the applicant must complete a new application packet and submit another application fee.
  6. Upon receipt of letter of acceptance, an applicant must contact the Office of Student Records to either accept or make a request to withdraw within 14 business days of the acceptance letter date. At no time will acceptance of admission be transferred to the next admission semester. The applicant can transfer the application only once. The applicant will then be placed in the future applicant pool and the competitive process is repeated.
  7. Failure to notify the Office of Student Records of acceptance or the need to withdraw the application will jeopardize future attempts to apply for admission.
