Presents: Forensic Nursing and Domestic Violence:
Essential Concepts All Nurses Must Know

6.0 Contact Hours 8:30 – 9:00 am - Registration 9:00 - 3:30 pm - Program

Target Audience: All Registered Nurses but beneficial to all clinicians who care for adult men and women.

Objectives: Upon completion of the program the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify five potential indicators of domestic violence.
  2. Discuss barriers to screening and acknowledging domestic violence.
  3. Differentiate between injuries caused by blunt versus penetrating trauma.
  4. Describe four concepts related to forensic evidence collection and preservation.
  5. Review regulatory requirements regarding domestic violence and screen tools for compliance with these standards.

LSUHSC School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation and LSBN (Provider #6). Participants must be present for 90% of the program & complete the evaluation in order to receive contact hours.

Fee: $45 in advance or $55 at door. Price includes continental breakfast, contact hours, and handouts.

Cancellation policy: The Co-Providers reserve the right to cancel the activity if registrations do not meet enrollment criteria. A full refund will be granted for cancellation of registration by 3/11/04. No refund will be given on the day of the activity.
