  • How do I get to the Blackboard site?

The web address for Blackboard is: http://nsgweb.lsuhsc.edu/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct
You can also get to it by going to the main Nursing website and clicking Blackboard under Student Information.

  • How do I check to see that my browser is properly configured to use Blackboard?

Click Check Browser on the Blackboard login page to run the browser check utility. Scroll down the pop-up window that appears to check for any issues. Some common areas of concern are:

Cookies - Cookies must be enabled. Blackboard uses a cookie to keep track of your current session. You must have cookies enabled so that it can maintain your current state as you navigate through the application.

Javascript - Javascript must be enabled. Almost every part of Blackboard relies on Javascript for the ability to generate interactive web pages. You must have Javascript enabled to function within Blackboard.

Pop-up Blockers - Pop-up blockers must be turned off or set to allow pop-ups from the Blackboard site. Blackboard sometimes uses small browser windows to deliver requested content.

Java™ - You must have the Java Runtime Environment (Sun Microsystems Inc.) installed on your computer. This is a free download available from: http://www.java.com

For more instructions on how to properly configure your browser, visit the Blackboard Browser Tune-up page: http://www.webct.com/tuneup

  • What user name/password do I use to access Blackboard?

Your User Name will (in most cases) be the same as your network user ID. For information on network user ID's, click here. In some cases, if your User Name was created before your network ID, it will be your first and last name concatenated (ex: MarySmith). Your password will be in the following format: n#### (where #### are the last 4 digits of your Social Security number).

  • I cannot log into Blackboard - who do I contact?

If you have trouble logging in, please contact Marco Sosa at 504-568-4130 or stop by his office in room 2A12.

  • How do I attach a file to a Blackboard email message?

    2. Click My Computer to browse the files on your computer.

    3. Select the file you wish to attach, and click Open.

  • How do I use Blackboard to sign up for academic advising appointments?

While this isn't a universal practice, several faculty members are using the calendar feature in Blackboard to schedule advising appointments. If you are an advisee of a faculty member who is using this feature, you will have an “Advising” course listed on your “myBlackboard” page (right after you log in). Your advisor will communicate to you the times they are available via the calendar itself or through the regular channels. Once you are ready to schedule an appointment:

    1. Click on "Sign-Up Calendar"
    2. Click on "Add Entry"
    3. Select Date and Time. Put your name in the "Summary" box.
    4. Click "Add" to submit.
