Dr. Linda Corson Jones Research Day:
Nursing Scholarship in the Next Decade

Location: East Jefferson General Hospital
New Orleans, Louisiana

Conference Objectives:

  1. Analyze the impact of nursing research and evidence based practice on the advancement of nursing science in the next decade
  2. Evaluate the impact of nursing research and evidence based practice on improving patient and health care delivery systems outcomes.
  3. Explore models of nursing research, evidence based practice and quality improvement that advance nursing scholarship.

Topic: Nursing Scholarship in the Next Decade

Note: You will be able to retrieve and print all abstracts and PowerPoint presentations for the conference beginning on 04/01/10. All PowerPoint presentations submitted for retrieval and printing will be text only (no graphics or pictures).

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: Abstracts due December 15, 2009
Please consider submission of an abstract for a poster display on April 16th, 2010, at East Jefferson General Hospital

Criteria for Poster Presentations
Each poster should be a free standing table top, three sided display board, 36" x 48".
Based on the theme of your poster, your submission should include one of the following:

  1. Scholarship of Discovery (Research)
  • Purpose of the study
  • Research question(s) or Study hypothesis(es)
  • State of science (Review of Literature)
  • Methods (Study design, Setting, Sampling, Measurement/Instruments)
  • Findings
  • Application to nursing practice, theory, research and/or health policy
  1. Scholarship of Application (Clinical and Practice)
  • Purpose of the project
  • Description of the project
  • Summary of the state of science (Review of Literature)
  • Subjective and objective findings if applicable
  • Project outcomes/findings
  • Application to evidence based nursing practice
  1. Scholarship of Integration (Service: translating research into practice, building bridges from academia to other disciplines, inter-departmental and interdisciplinary projects, the community, etc.)
  • Purpose/goals of the project
  • Description of the project (including all parties involved)
  • Placement of the project within the state of science
  • Relevance of the project to nursing practice
  • Summary of the outcome of the project
  1. Scholarship of Teaching (education, CE, in-service, precepting, mentoring, etc.)
  • Purpose of the program or teaching efforts
  • Description of the type of teaching scholarship
  • Description of innovative approach(es) or unique features of the program/efforts
  • Summary of how students/learners benefited from this approach or technique
  • Evaluation of effectiveness of scholarly teaching program/efforts
