CCNE Visit
Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center
– New Orleans School of Nursing School (LSUHSC-NO
SON) is currently preparing for re-accreditation
from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing
Education (CCNE). Since the last accreditation
in 1999 there have been many changes at the School,
a few of the most noticeable include:
the SON re-located to Baton Rouge and returned
to New Orleans; there is a new Dean and Associate
Deans; there are many new faculty; the
undergraduate curriculum has been revised; the
CARE and RN to Master’s tract were approved;
there are new specialty tracts in the Master’s
Program; and the SON has a new strategic plan
and new organizational chart. It is a challenge
to capture all that we have accomplished
in the Self-Study Report. There are also changes
at CCNE and after a comprehensive review, CCNE
has revised the Standards for Accreditation
of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs.
The CCNE site visit is scheduled for March 2
– March 4, 2009. The revised accreditation standards
are available at http://www.aacn.nche.edu/Accreditation/pdf/standards.pdf.
Comments may be submitted to CCNE in writing
concerning an educational program’s
qualifications
for accreditation status: Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE), One Dupont Circle,
