What to Watch for While Monitoring EtCO2 During PCA

1. Increased sedation level¹
2. Decreases in respiratory rate and quality¹
3. Significant increases or decreases in EtCO2 baseline

Possible Response to Above Observations

1. Follow established hospital protocol.
2. Stimulate patient.
3. Improve airway obstruction (if applicable).
4. Reposition/check nasal cannula placement.
5. Consult RT/MD/other clinical resources.
