Troubleshooting: Nasal Cannula Equipment1
- Important to have correct nasal cannula placement and correct
cannula selection (oral verses nasal breathing).
- Properly position cannula
directly under nose.
- Reposition cannula as needed.
- Nasal/oral cannula must match patient
breathing pattern (e.g. nasal breathing pattern vs. oral
breathing pattern).
- Respond to monitoring alarms and rule/out nasal cannula issues.
- Follow
hospital protocols.
