PCA Infusion Modes
The Alaris® PCA module has four operating modes:
- A PCA only infusion.
- A continuous only (basal rate) infusion.
- Both PCA and continuous infusion, enabling a patient
to self-administer a bolus dose at programmed intervals and resuming
the continuous infusion following the PCA dose.
- Programming of a loading dose only prior to initiation
of the PCA infusion.
Subsequent bolus doses may also be programmed once
the PCA infusion has begun.
