What Is the Alaris® PCA module?

The Alaris® Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) module is intended for facilities that utilize syringe pumps for the delivery of medications or fluids using continuous or intermittent delivery through clinically acceptable routes of administration, such as intravenous (IV), subcutaneous, or epidural.

The Alaris® PCA module allows a patient to self-administer a PCA dose according to programmed parameters. When used properly, it provides the protection and features of the Guardrails® Suite MX safety software that you learned about earlier in the training.
