The Administration Set

Take a minute to review the components of the administration set.

The safety clamp* on the pumping mechanism prevents inadvertent free flow when the administration set is removed from the module. The safety clamp is shipped in the open position to allow easy set priming, but you do not need to close it. The Alaris® Pump module door automatically opens and closes the safety clamp.

Warning: To prevent free-flow, close the set roller clamp when the safety clamp is open.

While this topic focuses on loading a set into the Alaris® Pump module, the set priming procedure is the same for a gravity infusion.
