Changing a Syringe During Infusion

If you need to change a syringe during an infusion:

1. Press the PAUSE key on the Alaris® Syringe module to stop the infusion.
2. Close the clamp on the extension set.
3. Open the plunger grippers and syringe barrel clamp.
4. Remove the syringe and separate the administration set from the syringe.
5. Reattach the administration set to the new syringe and load it into the Alaris® Syringe module.
6. Press the Channel Select key.
7. Select and confirm the new syringe type/size.
8. Restore or reprogram the infusion.
9. Open the clamp on the extension set.
10. Start infusion.

Infusions programmed to infuse at rates <1.0 mL/h may encounter a delay upon startup. To learn about decreasing the potential startup delay, refer to Topic 2: Preparing an Infusion.
