Dr. Sylve received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Metro State University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Educator concentration, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from St. Catherine University in Minneapolis, MN. She is a Certified Nurse Educator.

Dr. Sylve teaches in the undergraduate nursing program as the course coordinator for the School of Nursing’s Foundations in Nursing Practice Practicum course and is also an instructor in the Health Assessment cohort courses. She is an instructor in the RN to BSN program.

Dr. Sylve received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty in 2023 and 2024 and was nominated for the Allen Copping Excellence in Teaching Award in 2024. She was recently nominated to the Louisiana Great 100 Nurses Foundation.

Her research interests include simulation, nursing informatics, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in nursing education.  Dr. Sylve has experience in cardiovascular critical care and ambulatory care nursing and has worked in numerous nursing leadership and management roles.  She is committed to advancing DEI practices in clinical care and academia and believes that exceptional healthcare and education are fundamental human rights.
