Bio

Jessica Landry is the coordinator of the BSN-DNP Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing in New Orleans. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of South Alabama.

Dr. Landry has been a Registered Nurse for 17 years, a Family Nurse Practitioner for 14 years, and has served in academia for seven years. She is the course coordinator for Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacotherapeutics, Advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures,  Primary Care II: Reproductive Health and Pediatrics, Primary Care III: Vulnerable Populations, and Primary Care IV: Role Transitions.

Dr. Landry developed the Advocacy ™ Program that trains healthcare providers how to communicate and provide culturally sensitive care to lesbian, gay, bisexual , transgender, questioning, and intersex (LGBTQI) patients nationwide. She has published articles and presented nationally to disseminate best practices that improve healthcare delivery for this population. She also facilitated Safe Zone® training for faculty at the LSU Health Sciences Center, a means of communicating to LGBTQI Students that faculty want them feel to safe and welcome on campus.

Dr. Landry is the program director for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Grant and SANE Program at the LSU School of Nursing. The grant funds this program that trains nurses how to interact personally and collect vital evidence in children, women and men who have suffered sexual assault and abuse in the state of Louisiana. 

Dr. Landry has received the Daisy Award, Great 100 Award, and currently is nominated for Outstanding Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year. She is a member of The National League of Nursing, The American Nurses Association, The American Nurses Credentialing Center, and The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties.
