Bio

Jessica Schmidt is a native of Metairie, Louisiana. Dr. Schmidt is currently an instructor of clinical nursing at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Nursing (2004) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (2017) from the Louisiana University Health New Orleans School of Nursing. Dr. Schmidt holds a family nurse practitioner certification with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has a certification as a Registered Nurse First Assist from the National Institute of First Assisting. She worked as an RN in Critical Care and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit before becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She served as a board member of the Louisiana Association of Perianesthesia Nursing and received the award for Dedication and Service in 2009 and the Outstanding Leadership award in 2012. She is also a recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in 2012. More recently, Dr. Schmidt has been working as a Nurse Practitioner in Orthopedics and as a Registered Nurse First Assist in orthopedic surgery. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant Orthopedic Society, and the National Association of Orthopedic Nursing. Dr. Schmidt currently serves as course faculty for Foundations of Nursing in the undergraduate program at the Louisiana Health New Orleans School of Nursing.
