Katherine Bass, RN, MSN, MEd graduated summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey with a double major in Nursing and Spanish (2013). She pursued a graduate degree while teaching Spanish, Health Science, and Health Internship courses in a Certified Nurse Assistant secondary education program. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame in 2016 with a Master of Education. During her time teaching, she was committed to promoting health and preventing illness in the community through education. She twice received a service-learning grant to initiate a health promotion running club at a local under-resourced elementary school for girls in 3rd-5th grade. Recognized for her academic excellence in the MSN program and her commitment to serving vulnerable populations, she was selected as a JoAnn Clark Nurse Educator Scholar in 2020 and received scholarship funds provided by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation and the Fresenius Kabi/American Nurses Foundation. She will graduate from LSU Health Science Center in August 2021 and receive a Master of Science in Nursing, with a concentration in nursing education. She has a broad range of clinical experience having worked in an emergency department, in a cardiac and neurologic stepdown ICU, and most recently, in telehealth nursing performing telephonic triage. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi. She joined the faculty as an Instructor of Clinical Nursing in the Adult Health course for undergraduate nursing students beginning in Fall 2021.
