Matthew Reese, DNP
Instructor of Clinical Nursing - Adjunct

Matthew Reese, DNP, is an Instructor of Clinical Nursing at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing. Since graduating from the School of Nursing’s CARE program, he has dedicated himself to working with patients with serious mental illnesses in the community setting.  In May of 2022, he graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from LSU concentrating in Psychiatric-Mental Health advanced practice. As an instructor for the undergraduate mental health course, he hopes to share his passion for community mental health and prepare future nurses to better care for people with mental illnesses in a variety of settings.  Prior to his nursing career, he earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Philosophy and Spanish from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and worked as a linkage-to-care coordinator at an HIV clinic.  His areas of interest include co-occurring disorders, trauma, social determinants of health, and policy. He looks forward to teaching, learning, and growing professionally within the LSU Health New Orleans community.
