Bio
Dr. Sheena Youngblood graduated from University of South Alabama with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with a focus in Adult Gerontology Acute Care in 2022. Prior to this, she had obtained a Master’s of Science in Nursing and subsequent post-master’s certificate with a major in both FNP and AGACNP respectively. After graduation and dual certification as an APRN, she was an active member of a cardiovascular team within the hospital setting, pushing for guideline directed medical therapy to ensure high quality patient care and maintaining Cardiovascular Center of Excellence Designation. Due to her work within the cardiovascular area she was elected to Associate of the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Youngblood began her nursing career in 2009 after graduating from Northwestern State University in Shreveport and immediately began working in the emergency room, first with a focus in pediatrics and later in an all age ER. During her years as a RN she was recruited for training other RNs both in the ER and in other areas. She eventually became a nurse educator and was a frequent instructor for AHA courses for several years.
She is currently a Clinical Nursing Instructor for LSUHSC School of Nursing OCIS – Shreveport where she is pursuing her passion for education. She believes teachers and nurses should never stop being students first and this shows in her practice as she has spent considerable time as a NP educating the nurses she works with and training them in the “whys” for nursing.
