Bio

As a Nashville native, Mr. Rasmussen received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Middle Tennessee State University graduating Cum Laude, and as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Immediately following graduation, he began his career in Emergency and Trauma nursing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and later transferred to the medical intensive care unit. While in the medical intensive care unit, he served as the elected chair for the Intensive Care Education Committee representing his home unit. He later received his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Magna Cum Laude, with emphasis in emergency and critical care medicine. After graduation, he relocated to New Orleans, LA to begin his practice as a board certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner practicing in the medical intensive care unit at Ochsner Medical Center. Mr. Rasmussen’s research interests include critical care medicine, pulmonology: particularly advanced lung disease, as well as end of life care and palliative medicine. He is an active member of The Society of Critical Care Medicine, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and Remote Area Medical Volunteers.
