The Evidence-based Clinical Fellows Program (EBCFP) provides nurse and physician clinicians, managers, policy makers, and quality managers in healthcare with proven approaches to implementing evidence into practice. The course involves two, one-week intensive training workshops, separated by an implementation period of four to five months. In the intervening months, participants develop an implementation project, and execute strategies to implement and evaluate their project in their work environment. The EBCFP includes a one-day ‘Clinical Leadership Workshop' that equips health professionals with the knowledge and tools required to be effective clinical leaders. Participants need to have access to a clinical population for their implementation project.

The overall objectives of the Clinical Fellows Program are to facilitate participants in the:

  1. Identification of a clinically based problem impacting patient and/or healthcare system outcomes in their own workplaces;
  2. Design, implementation, analysis and evaluation of an evidence implementation project in their own workplaces;
  3. Development and refinement of clinical leadership skills necessary to successfully implement and sustain an evidence-based change project.
