Marirose Bernard is an Instructor at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Nursing from Louisiana State University Medical Center.
Ms. Bernard is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in parent-child health/perinatal nursing and is board certified by the American Nurses Credential Center in nursing administration. She is also a certified bereavement counselor and childbirth educator.
Ms. Bernard serves as an instructor in the School of Nursing’s Women’s Health Nursing courses and the Introduction to Professional Nursing course. She serves as a faculty advisor to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Inter-Professional Student Alliance Organization (IPSA).
Ms. Bernard has extensive experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, nursery, neonatal intensive care, and well-woman care. She has experience as a childbirth educator, preceptor, nurse manager, program manager, expert witness, and director of nursing. Ms. Bernard’s research interest and publication areas include perinatal nursing and emergency planning and response during disasters.
She has received many awards and honors including: the Dr. Allen A. Copping Excellence in Teaching Award, the Clinical Paper of the Year/Author of the Year Award from the American Journal of Maternal-Child Nursing, two Faculty Advisor of the Year Awards from the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses, the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses Honorary Member Award, and the Louisiana State Nurses’ Association Nurse Educator of the Year Award.
