The LSU Health New Orleans (LSUHNO) School of Nursing participates in a Centralized Application Service for Nursing Programs (NursingCAS). All applicants will apply online using the NursingCAS application. To learn more about the NursingCAS application process, please visit the NursingCAS web site at www.nursingcas.org.
The BSN to DNP Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program admits students in the summer, fall, or spring semesters each year. Please refer to the Admission Criteria page for further information about qualifications and requirements. The information below will guide you and ensure a successful application submission.
Application Access
Visit NursingCAS website at www.nursingcas.org to complete the online NursingCAS application. Search for LSU Health New Orleans
School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. If you have any concerns about the on-line application

Application Fee
A $100.00 non-refundable application fee is required at the time of application submittal.
The applicant will receive a follow-up email from LSUHNO School of Nursing Office
of Student Services/Affairs with further directions on submitting the fee.
Transcripts
Official transcripts from a regionally accredited college or university documenting
the award of a BSN or BSN equivalent. All previous undergraduate and graduate transcripts
must be submitted. All nursing course credit earned must be from a specialized nursing
accredited program. *A BSN equivalent does not meet admission requirement without
the conferral of a Master's degree.
All transcripts from programs outside of the United States must be evaluated by an accredited credentialing evaluation service. LSUHNO School of Nursing recommends the following resources:

Official transcripts must be submitted to NursingCAS.
Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Score Requirements
Official scores for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) of 300 (or higher) when combining
the verbal and quantitative scores on the 130-170 score scale are required from within
the last five (5) years. Writing score must be a 3.0 or higher from within the last
five (5) years. The GRE official transcript must be sent to LSU Health New Orleans
School of Nursing (code 6353).
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores
A minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79-80 (internet-based) for all applicants
who have English as a second language or who are not graduates of programs in the
United States.
Input TOEFL scores and upload the results within the NursingCAS application.
References in Support of Graduate Admission Application
Three References in Support of Graduate Admission Application must be submitted by
the application deadline. Must be from (1) a peer, (2) a Nurse Practitioner, & (3)
a nursing Supervisor. The reference information will be requested within the NursingCAS
application.
Licensure and Certifications
A current unencumbered license to practice nursing in any state with eligibility for
licensure in Louisiana. Certification through the American Heart Association in Basic
Life Support for healthcare providers. All licensures and certifications may be uploaded
within the NursingCAS application.
Economic and Education Disadvantaged Status Form
LSUHNO School of Nursing receives grants administered by HRSA. The Economic and Educational
Disadvantaged Status Survey contains information required by HRSA in order for LSUHNO
School of Nursing to remain compliant in our mandatory performance indicator reporting.
Information from School of Nursing's current students and applicants is needed. The
information will be kept confidential. A unique identifier will be assigned to each
individual in order that individual-level data is not linked in the HRSA report. All
other data is reported in aggregate form.
