Bio

Dr. Manning currently serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. She is a three-time graduate of  LSUHSC SON (BSN - 2000, MSN - 2007, and DNS - 2014). Dr. Manning began her healthcare career as a Research Associate in 1994, studying hypertension in cell and animal models. Dr. Manning began her nursing career as a critical care nurse at East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH) in 2000. She began her academic career as a critical care faculty in 2008. She directed the RN to BSN Program from 2013 to 2015 and 2016 to 2024. She has served as the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs since 2015.

In 2008, she obtained board certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and, in 2014, completed her CNE certification. In 2024, she became a Clinical Nurse Specialist Fellow. In 2024, she was appointed to the National Kidney Foundation Board for Louisiana (NKFL). 

Dr. Manning was president of the Epsilon Nu chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society from 2013-2015. She was appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Nursing in 2018 for a four-year appointment. She is currently the Vice President of LSBN. In 2021, she was elected to the board of the National Association for Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS). In 2024, she was elected President of NACNS. In 2023, she was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Louisiana State Nurses Association.

In 2019, she accepted a position as a clinical nurse researcher at  LCMC Health East Jefferson General Hospital. Dr. Manning has published thirty peer-reviewed publications, a book, multiple book chapters, and NACNS position papers. She participated in multiple grant teams focusing on simulation in nursing, enhancing diversity in the nursing workforce, and enhancing leadership skills in nursing. Her research interests include adult health critical care, hypertension, nurse work environments, and best practices in nursing education.
