Bio
Jenna Martin has served an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing at Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of Nursing in the Nurse Anesthesia Program for the past 12 years. She is a three time graduate of LSU earning her BSN in 1999, Master of Nursing with a specialization in Nurse Anesthesia in 2005, and post-Master’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2013. Prior to joining the faculty at LSUHSC, Dr. Martin worked as a full-time CRNA at various hospitals and facilities in the Greater New Orleans area. Her specialization is in pediatric and obstetric anesthesia, along with office-based anesthesia. Dr. Martin was a NICU and Adult Cardiac ICU nurse prior to pursuing her degree in nurse anesthesia. She continues to practice anesthesia one day a week at a local area hospital specializing in surgical reconstruction for breast cancer survivors.
Throughout her time at LSUHSC School of Nursing, Dr. Martin has championed the development of a faculty mentorship program, an undergraduate honors research program, and the SON Workplace Wellness program. She has organized various faculty developments regarding emotional intelligence, Emergenetics, innovative pedagogies, student-teacher relationships, appropriate use of social media in academia, and legal implications for faculty. Dr. Martin holds certifications in Emergenetics, Emotional Intelligence EQi2.0, JBI systematic review, and professional coaching. She has numerous publications and presentations, and was invited twice as a concurrent session speaker at the National League for Nursing Annual Summit regarding her innovative approach to engaging undergraduate nursing students in the research process and in using a brain-based approach to pedagogy.
