BioDr. Fowler is an Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing where she serves as the Program Director for Nurse Practitioner academic and post-graduate programs. She has more than 23 years of nursing experience and over 15 years in academic nursing education. Her clinical expertise is focused on acute and critically ill adults within hospital settings. She is recognized internationally as an Institute for Healthcare Improvement Fellow for leadership in quality improvement, she is nationally recognized as a Fellow for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Diversity Leadership Institute, American Association of Nurse Practitoners, and the American Academy of Nursing. Additionally, she is nationally recognized in the American Association of Critical-care Nurses' 2017 Circle of Excellence, and locally as a Governor-appointed member of the Louisiana COVID-19 Health Equity Taskforce. Dr. Fowler is especially dedicated to a life of service to the nursing profession and community-at- large. She currently serves as the Chair of the DNP Project Taskforce for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), is an immediate past Director-at-Large for NONPF, and as an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners’ practice committee and Fellows program.
In Louisiana, Dr. Fowler is the Vice President of the Louisiana Nurse Practitioner Foundation and as Chair of the Preceptor Committee for the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners Board of Directors. As a community leader, Dr. Fowler serves as the Director for Health and Healing at the Beacon Light Baptist Church of Hammond where over the last several years she has led several health fairs and educational programming in collaboration with church members and local public health organizations.
