Bio

For over six years, Dr. Rodmistrial Allen has been an instructor for the Louisiana State University Health New Orleans School of nursing (LSU HNO SON). She has been in nursing for nearly a decade with experience in medical-surgical nursing, cardiac critical care, oncology (neuroendocrine), and telemetry. Dr. Allen earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Louisiana Health Sciences Center in 2012. After working in nursing for two years, she went back to school and achieved a Master's of Science in Nursing Education. In 2021, Dr. Allen completed her Ph.D. in Nursing Education and Nursing Administration. Her research interests are diverse teaching/learning strategies that facilitate the transition of theory into clinical application from the traditional and adult nursing students' perspectives. Dr. Allen has completed a research study at two-southern based Schools of Nursing institutions and has expounded on research results in her dissertation. 

Dr. Allen works as a member and advisor of numerous organizations such as LSU HNO's SON Faculty Senate, Academic Undergraduate Council, Faculty Organization, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society Epsilon Nu Chapter (a nursing honor society), Student Government Association, Curriculum Committee, Student Life, the American Nursing Association, New Orleans District Nurses Association (NODNA), and RHO CHI ETA PHI Sorority Inc. (a professional nursing sorority). Since her introduction into nursing, Dr. Allen has achieved many awards, honors, and special recognitions. She has attained the five years of Service award at LSU HNO SON, the Allen A. Copping Award for Teaching Excellence, 2018 Great 100 Nurse Honoree of Louisiana, Daisy Award, ROAR Recognition, Faculty Recognition Award sponsored by Elsevier, and Certificate of Appreciation from the American Nursing Association's Ethics Committee. Her clinical affiliations are Ochsner Main Campus, Ochsner-Kenner, and University Medical Center. 

Overall, Dr. Allen has a passion for advocating for patient safety and providing quality patient care. She prides herself in exploring innovative teaching methods to meet the diverse learner needs of nursing students. She has a strong desire to push the profession of nursing to the next level in nursing education, informatics, and telehealth.
