When Can the Guardrails® PCA Pause Protocol Be Used?

This feature can only be used when an Alaris® SpO2 module and/or Alaris® EtCO2 module is active on the same Alaris® PC point-of-care unit as the Alaris® PCA module, and default pausing limits have been set by your hospital in the Guardrails® software. The defaults can be changed at the bedside to accommodate individual patient situations.

When defined monitoring values for the Alaris® SpO2 module and/or Alaris® EtCO2 module are exceeded, the system alarms and automatically pauses the PCA infusion.
