Responding to a Guardrails® PCA Pause Protocol Event (continued)

To find out the time and cause of the pause event:

1. Press the CONFIRM soft key in response to the PCA Paused prompt.
2. Press the CHANNEL SELECT key on the Alaris® PCA module.
3. Press the OPTIONS key.
4. On the Channel Options screen, press the Drug Event History soft key.

Here you will find the reason for the pause and the time the pause occurred. Additionally you can see what time PCA therapy was restarted.

Follow established hospital protocol prior to restarting the PCA infusion. If you have determined it is safe to restart the PCA infusion, press the RESTART key on the PCA module.

Note: The PCA module cannot be restarted until the patient’s monitoring values are within the PCA pause limits.
