Inserting the Pressure Sensing Disc

If your hospital is using Alaris® Syringe module administration sets with pressure sensing discs, you need to insert the disc. After loading the syringe and priming the set:

1. Gently slide the disc (cavity forward - membrane toward instrument) up into the slot in the pressure sensing disc housing.
2. Apply firm upward pressure on the pressure sensing disc (not tubing) until the disc snaps into place.

Note: The administration set should not be attached to the patient until after the set has been loaded, clamp is released, and infusion has been started. This will minimize any potential bolus that could be released from pressure built up in the set due to normal priming and syringe loading.
