Application Information

The Fall 2024 Traditional BSN application is now open in NursingCAS Cycle 23-24

Fall 2024 Nursing CAS Application Deadline: January 31, 2024, 10:00 p.m. CST

Beginning Fall 2018 semester, Statistics 300/3000 level or above may be transferred if a grade of “C” or better is achieved.

The School of Nursing at LSU Health Sciences Center - New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) School of Nursing participates in a Centralized Application Service for Nursing Programs (NursingCAS). Applicants applying to the Traditional BSN program will apply on-line using the NursingCAS application. To learn more about the NursingCAS application process, please visit the NursingCAS web site at www.nursingcas.org.

The Traditional BSN program admits students in the fall and spring each year. The fall semester application deadline is January 31st. The spring semester application deadline is August 1st. Class size is limited and admission is very competitive. Please refer to the Admission Criteria page for further information about qualifications and requirements.

  1. Application Form

    Please visit the NursingCAS website at www.nursingcas.org to complete the on-line NursingCAS application. Search for LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA.   2. Transcripts

    Official transcripts from a regionally accredited college or university must be submitted to NursingCAS. LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing will allow two (2) weeks after the deadline for NursingCAS to upload and verify coursework.

    LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing encourages applicants to submit the application and forward official transcripts to NursingCAS at least three weeks prior to the deadline to ensure timely processing. An applicant may check the application status through the NursingCAS system.

    All coursework must be inputted within NursingCAS

    Advanced Placement and CLEP Credit:LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing will recognize up to a combined nine (9) hours Accelerated Program (AP) and CLEP coursework. The AP and CLEP credits should be recognized on the applicant's official transcript.

    Advanced Standing Credit:LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing will recognize up to a combined nine (9) hours Advanced Standing coursework. Advanced standing is offered by universities/college for students to take a proficiency exam or achieve a certain ACT score to obtain credit for courses. The Advanced Standing credits should be recognized on the applicant's official transcript.

    All transcripts from programs outside of the United States must be evaluated by an accredited credentialing evaluation service. LSUHSC-NO Registrar's Office recommends the following resources:

  3. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores

    A minimum score of 550 (paper-based) or 79-80 (internet-based) for all applicants who have English as a second language or who are not graduates of programs in the United States is required.

    Input TOEFL scores within NursingCAS application.

  4. Application Fee

    A required $50.00 non-refundable LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing application fee is required at the time of application submittal. The applicant will receive a follow-up email from the LSUHSC-NO School of Nursing Office of Student Services/Affairs with further directions on submitting the application fee.

NOTE: Students are expected to attend the mandatory, in-person 2-day New Student Orientation. Spring semester orientation is scheduled the end of December; Fall semester orientation is scheduled the end of July. The admission letter will state the exact dates.

NOTE: Meeting the minimum academic requirements DOES NOT guarantee admission to the School of Nursing.
