Purpose of Alaris® Auto-ID module

The Alaris® Auto-ID module contains a bar code scanner with an option to attach an external, hand-held scanner. Scanned solution containers can be used for large volume and syringe infusions.

You can use either scanner to scan the patient ID band, clinician ID badge, and IV medication label. This verifies the right patient and an authorized clinician, and automatically pre-populates the pump with the right drug and concentration from the Guardrails® drug library.

Associating the Alaris® System with a patient provides a means of identifying the device(s) that will deliver IV medications to that patient. There are two ways to associate the system with a patient:
