School of Nursing

RNRP

Program Description

The RNRP is designed to address the learning needs and skills development of the registered nurse (RN) who wishes to return to clinical practice or apply for relicensure. It is a service provided by the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing (LSUHSC-SON).

RNRP is congruent with the philosophy of the LSUHSC School of Nursing. This learning opportunity is a planned and organized experience which will augment knowledge, skills and attitudes in preparation for the learner to return to the practice of nursing. Faculty will act as facilitators in the program and focus in identifying media and content while the learner is responsible for his/her own learning. This means the learner will actively participate in establishing specific goals and learning methods as well as be self directed in scheduling appointments and adhering to timelines. Participants will have a total of 18 months to complete the program.

Program Purpose

The purpose of this program is to assist nurses to re-enter the nursing practice. Program is focused on reorienting the nurse to an adult medical surgical unit. Specialty nursing fields will be evaluated on a person to person basis.
