RN to BSN

Admission Criteria

 

  1. Associate Degree or Diploma

    At the time of application, an applicant must have earned an Associate Degree or Diploma in nursing from an accredited college or university.

    Current Delgado Community College applicants may apply during their last semester in nursing school at Delgado Community College before sitting for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. If accepted into LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing RN to BSN program, an applicant will be provisionally admitted and have three (3) months to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN licensure exam.

  2. Pre-requisite Coursework

    An applicant must complete 57 hours of required pre-requisite and supporting courses. Pre-requisite courses may be in progress at the time the application is submitted. All pre-requisite courses must be completed and be on the official transcript before beginning the nursing program at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing. A listing of all pre-requisite courses is available on the Curriculum page.

  3. Grade Point Average Criteria

    The GPA calculated on these courses must be at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale in order to be eligible for admission. A grade of C or better must be achieved in all pre-requisite courses.

  4. Unencumbered RN License

    A current unencumbered license to practice nursing in the state of Louisiana.

  5. Interview and Transcript Review

    Send unofficial transcripts for review to the Program Director; Gwendolyn Stewart-Woods, MSN, RN gstew1@lsuhsc.edu. Applicants must meet (virtually or in person) with the Program Director for an interview to 1. review unofficial transcripts and 2. discuss the RNBSN program plan of study.
