The Louisiana State University Health New Orleans Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing Program utilizes the Centralized Application Service for Nursing Programs (NursingCAS). Applicants interested in applying to the PhD in Nursing Program must apply online using the NursingCAS application. Transcripts
Official transcripts from a regionally accredited college or university documenting the award of a BSN or BSN equivalent. All previous undergraduate and graduate transcripts must be submitted. All nursing course credit earned must be from a specialized nursing accredited program. *A BSN equivalent does not meet admission requirement without the conferral of a Master's degree.
All transcripts from programs outside of the United States must be evaluated by an accredited credentialing evaluation service. LSUHNO School of Nursing recommends the following resources:

Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores
GRE scores may be uploaded within the NursingCAS application. Official copies should be sent to LSUHNO School of Nursing. LSUHNO School of Nursing code is 6353.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Scores
Required for all applicants who have English as a second language or who are not graduates of programs in the United States.
Input TOEFL scores and upload the results within the NursingCAS application.

References in Support of Graduate Admission Application
Three References in Support of Graduate Admission Application must be submitted by the application deadline. The reference request will originate from NursingCAS.

Research Interest Statement
A 1500 word Research Interest Statement that describes the applicant's preliminary topics of research interest with a specified population of interest. The statement should include a brief explanation of the state of the science in the topic, identification of a researchable problem, and a description of how the applicant would approach studying the problem.

Application Fee
A required $100.00 non-refundable application fee is required at the time of application submittal. The applicant will receive a follow-up email from LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing Office of Student Services/Affairs with further directions on submitting the fee.
